Newsweek magazine featured two Pierce County high schools on its 2008 nation’s top high schools list led by Albright School of Education graduates. They are principals Tim Winter of Pennisula High School and Jennifer Bethman of Graham-Kapowsin High School. Winter graduated in 1995 and Bethman in 2000 from the Educational Leadership program. 

Tracey Larsen (Rollins), Class of 1997, accepted a social worker job at the Washington State Children’s Administration. The MACP program (cohort 17) graduate also was married last February.

Craig S. Timmons, Class of 1998, received the Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in May. The Richland, Wash. resident joined 218 others who earned their three-year graduate degree or professional degree for ministry. Timmons graduated with his M.Ed. degree from CityU of Seattle.

Kathy Johanson, Class of 2002, and business partner Stacy Lill recently awarded their first college scholarship through a donation program funded by their business O Wines. The Woodinville winery entrepreneurs donate a portion of all proceeds to establish scholarship funds for Washington state low income, high potential girls. Johanson, who graduated with her Master of Science in Project Management degree, also works for Boeing as a Core Program, Planning and Control Manager.

Byron Gerard, Class of 2003, accepted an assistant principal position at Mt. Baker High School. The Albright School of Education graduate previously worked as an assistant principal at Kulshan Middle School in the Bellingham School District. “I am excited to return to the high school arena and the professional development that it will provide me on my journey to being a building principal some day,” Gerard says.

Michael Galvin, Class of 2007, recently was hired for an IT position focusing on systems and change management. Says Galvin, “This is going to be one beautiful career!”
